Tuesday Thoughts - Get smoking

I’ve loved my grounding experience this past week, so I did it again today. A little different—but who says it has to be the same every time?

Today is special. Seven years ago, I became a mum. The night before my son’s arrival was restless—waves of contractions mixed with excitement for what was to come. And last night? Equally restless, but for a different reason—this time, a very excited little boy, too thrilled about his birthday to sleep, wondering what surprises awaited him.
This morning, I stood in my garden with a cup of spiced tea, the sun warming my skin, the wind gently moving around me. I listened—birds singing, leaves whispering. Then, a little robin bobbed into view.
Robins have carried meaning for me for a while now (another story for another day), but when I see one, I feel my mum’s presence. And as I stood there, I pictured her—the way she used to pause in her garden, cigarette in hand. But beyond the cigarette, she was taking time—slowing down, observing, and being present in her space.
It made me think… Maybe I should start to SMOKE too.
Not cigarettes—but a different kind of SMOKE:
Stillness – Quieting the mind, letting thoughts settle.
Mindfulness – Noticing the world around me, the sights, sounds, sensations.
Observing – Seeing what’s new, what’s familiar, what simply is.
Kindness – To myself, in allowing this pause; to others, in how I show up.
Embracing – Fully accepting myself and the moment, without expectation.

Just five minutes of SMOKE can reset the mind, ease tension, and shift perspective.
And it doesn’t have to happen barefoot in the garden. It can be a change of scenery, a walk, a quiet stretch while waiting for the kettle to boil. A pause in the day—wherever it fits.
A simple inhale, exhale—and the reminder to SMOKE.
