We are not completely symmetrical. That would probably be boring. Small irregularities make us human and interesting.
Leg length differences occur in most people during growth and are balanced out by the muscles without causing skeletal tilt. However, if the leg length differs by more than 9 millimetres in individuals taller than 1.70 meters (5 feet 7 inches), and this difference is due to differing lengths of the thigh and/or shin bones, it is referred to as a true or anatomical leg length difference, which with high certainty can to lead to orthopaedic problems. This form of anatomical misalignment is usually a matter for the orthopaedic specialist. Typically, anatomical leg length differences are compensated for with unilateral shoe insoles. In rare cases, surgical correction is necessary.

But did you know that there is also a false or muscular leg length difference? This leg length difference is not due to anatomical conditions where limbs are if different length, and it is this muscular leg length difference that a Vitametik practitioner focusses on. But how does a muscular leg length difference occur if the limbs a of a same or similar length? A muscular leg length difference is a result of joint misalignments and permanent contractions of muscles and ligaments.
It is like a domino-effect, permanent muscle contractions, muscle tension, especially in shoulder, neck and back area can pull on one leg, twist the pelvis, or cause a misalignment of the spine, leading to a what looks like a shortening of a leg. The resulting body misalignment can lead to further muscular problems and thus set off a negative cycle.
But there is something we can do revert these muscle tension and thus also reduce or revert the symptoms caused by it. But first we need to understand how we can determine if one has an anatomical or muscular leg length difference. For this we can utilise the so-called dynamic leg length test. This is one of the first actions a Vitametik practitioner takes with new clients and but also during each session. The test, through very specific movements, aims to obtain essential information about body tension and the overall condition of the muscles. It also helps the practitioner determine on which side of the body the actual Vitametik treatment should be conducted.
The targeted manual pressure impulse, precisely applied to the spot determined by the Vitametik practitioner on the upper neck, is intended to reduce tension fields in the body. The pressure impulse sends relaxation signals to the tense body regions through the feedback of the brain via the vagus nerve.
This way, the body is supposed to gain the possibility to relax permanently and thus resolve or prevent misalignments.
