Vitametik®

Vitametik is a gentle, hands-on neuromuscular technique, developed in Germany in 1999, that releases chronic muscle tension via a pressure-point impulse on the neck. This proven relaxation technique may help reduce discomfort associated with muscular tension, including neck pain, shoulder and arm pain, back pain, lower back pain, and headaches.
Scientifically Supported Method
In 2017, researchers at the German Sport University Cologne conducted a randomised controlled study to investigate the effects of the Vitametik impulse on tension-related symptoms.
The study examined its impact on complaints such as headaches, neck pain, shoulder and arm discomfort, and back pain. The results indicated positive effects on pain, discomfort, and overall well-being.
The findings were published in the study:

Why Does Pain Keep Coming Back?
Many people with chronic back pain, neck pain or headaches have tried physiotherapy, massage, chiropractic treatment or medication.
Often these approaches provide temporary relief, but the pain returns.
One reason may be that the body has become stuck in a pattern of tension. Stress, physical strain and past injuries can all contribute to muscles remaining tight long after the original problem has passed.
Over time, these tension patterns can become automatic. The nervous system begins to treat them as normal, making it difficult for the body to fully relax.
Vitametik is designed to help interrupt this cycle. By applying a gentle impulse to specific muscles in the neck, the aim is to encourage the nervous system to let go of unnecessary tension and support a return to a more relaxed state.
How Does Vitametik Work?
During a Vitametik session, a gentle and precise impulse is applied to the muscles at the side of the neck while you lie comfortably on a specially designed treatment bed.
The neck was chosen because it plays an important role in how the brain monitors and regulates tension throughout the body.
The purpose of the Vitametik impulse is to encourage the nervous system to release habitual tension patterns. Many clients describe feeling deeply relaxed following a session and report improvements in symptoms associated with muscular tension.
Vitametik is gentle, non-manipulative and does not involve forceful adjustments of the spine.
Is Vitametik for me?
Vitametik sessions are suitable for all ages.
Babies from the age of 3 days can benefit from this gentle technique, equally as children, teenagers and adults. The Role of Muscle Tension
Muscle tension is a natural part of the body's stress response.
When stress becomes ongoing, muscles can remain tight for long periods, even when the original cause has passed. Over time, this may contribute to symptoms such as neck pain, back pain, tension headaches, shoulder discomfort and reduced mobility.
Vitametik focuses on helping the nervous system release these habitual tension patterns, supporting the body's natural ability to relax.

What Happens During a Vitametik Session?
Every session begins with a brief assessment of how you are feeling and an evaluation of muscle tension.
You then lie comfortably on a specially designed treatment couch while a gentle Vitametik impulse is applied to a specific point on the side of the neck.
The remainder of the session is dedicated to relaxation, giving your body time to respond and settle into a more relaxed state.
Many clients describe the experience as deeply calming and restorative.

After Your Session
Following your session, it is recommended to take things easy for the rest of the day.
Gentle activities such as walking are encouraged, while strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided until after your next sleep cycle.
This helps your body make the most of the relaxation achieved during the session.

What is the history of Vitametik®? The origins of Vitametik® can be traced back to the 1890s, when the founder of chiropractic, David Daniel Palmer, hypothesized that manipulating the spine could improve overall health. His son, Bartlett Joshua Palmer, further advanced this idea by developing a method of spinal adjustment focused on the first two cervical vertebra (the atlas and axis). In the 1980s, Dr. Huggler introduced this method to Europe under the name Vitalogy. Vitametik® was officially established in Germany in 2000 and later introduced to the UK in 2013. Today, Vitametik® is no longer classified as a chiropractic method but is recognized as a targeted muscular impulse technique aimed at promoting deep body relaxation. Vitametik® therapists are members of the Berufsverband für Vitametik e.V. (BVV), which was founded in 2000. They regularly undergo training to maintain high professional standards.
